WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT DIVORCE? (Matthew 19:1-12)

The issue of divorce has become a painful plague within Christian marriages today. Our churches are increasingly filled with single parents, broken homes, and children growing up without the stability of both father and mother. It is a reality we can no longer deny. In many ways, the church has mishandled the subject of divorce—sometimes by silence, sometimes by harshness, and sometimes by a lack of biblical clarity. As a result, many young men and women now fear marriage, while others choose to live together without the covenant commitment God requires.

Why has divorce become such a widespread problem among believers?
What does Scripture actually teach about divorce and remarriage?
What are the legitimate grounds the Bible recognizes, and how should they be understood?
How can the church become a place where marital conflict is addressed with wisdom, compassion, and truth—rather than avoided or mismanaged?
And most importantly, what steps can be taken to preserve, strengthen, and restore Christian marriages?
