TOPIC: THE REDEEMING FAITH: LESSON FROM THE BOOK OF RUTH Part 5 (Ruth 3:1-18)

“May you be blessed by the Lord, my daughter. You have made this last kindness greater than the first in that you have not gone after young men, whether poor or rich. And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you all that you ask, for all my fellow townsmen know that you are a worthy woman.” (Ruth 3:10–11, ESV).

Boaz’s response to Ruth’s proposal is a beautiful reflection of Ruth’s desire to honor God by walking in obedience to His law. Her request was rooted in faithfulness to the covenant law of the kinsman-redeemer (Leviticus 25:25; Deuteronomy 25:5–10). Though Ruth could have easily chosen to marry any man of her choice and begin a new life, she chose instead to seek what was right in God’s eyes and to uphold her commitment to her late husband’s family.
