TOPIC: READING THE BIBLE FOR A CHANGE Part 5 (JAMES 1:23-25)

Reading the Bible is not meant to be a mere intellectual exercise or a way to accumulate religious knowledge—it is meant to transform us. True transformation happens when reading leads to obedience. God’s Word was never intended to simply inform us; it is given to shape our hearts, correct our paths, and renew our minds (Romans 12:2).

This is why James uses the vivid image of a mirror in James 1:23–25. The mirror reveals our true condition, but if we walk away without making any changes, the reflection benefits us nothing. In the same way, Scripture reveals who we are before God—our strengths, weaknesses, sins, and calling—but the blessing comes only when we act upon what we see.
