TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF JOSEPH PART 9 (Genesis 43:1-34)
In Genesis 43, the famine in Canaan persisted, and Jacob’s family was once again compelled to go to Egypt to buy food. However, there was one critical condition: they could not return without Benjamin, the youngest son. Joseph—still unrecognized by his brothers—had insisted that Benjamin must come with them if they were to receive any more grain.

Jacob, however, was unwilling to let go. His fear of losing Benjamin paralyzed him. Though God was orchestrating a beautiful reconciliation between Jacob and Joseph, Jacob was too afraid to release control. It wasn’t until Judah stepped forward and took full responsibility—saying, “I myself will be a pledge for his safety… If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever” (Genesis 43:9)—that Jacob reluctantly let go.
