THE NEW NHUMANITY IN CHRIST Part 2 (2 Corinthians 5:16-21)
What does this phrase “IN CHRIST” mean? Paul teaches that everyone who has put their faith in Christ by grace through the Gospel, now shares in the blessings and status that belong to Christ. He understands that believers are joined to Christ, born into Christ, and now live inside Christ. Through this union, we participate in all that belongs to Christ and everything He accomplished for us. As Scripture says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17), and again, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). This is why Paul insists that every spiritual blessing God gives is found only in Christ (Ephesians 1:3).
