THE HOPE OF RESURRECTION (1 Peter 1:3-5)

The major distinction the New Testament makes between those who are in Christ and those who are outside of Christ is this: hope.

That is why Paul describes unbelievers in Ephesians 2:12 as those who are “without hope and without God in the world.”Likewise, in 1 Thessalonians 4:13, he writes:
“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.”

In other words, the defining difference between the believer and the unbeliever is not merely morality, religion, or behavior—it is hope. The believer possesses a hope that transcends death.

No wonder Paul prays in Ephesians 1:18:
“That the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you…”
