THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS PART 3

In these verses, Paul expresses his heartfelt prayer for the Philippians, outlining both his requests and his expectations for how God will work in their lives. It’s common in Paul’s letters to see him pray while also explaining the reasons behind his prayer, as well as what he hopes God will accomplish through it. Similar prayers can be found in Ephesians 1:14-18, Ephesians 3:14-19, and Colossians 1:9-11.

God must be glorified in our everyday lives; this is the proof that our love is abounding in knowledge and discernment. This is a consistent message in Paul’s other letters, such as in Ephesians 1:6, 12, 14. Everything the Philippians do—their growth in love, knowledge, discernment, and righteousness—should point to the greatness and goodness of God.
