READING THE BIBLE FOR A CHANGE Part 2 (2 Peter 1:20-21)

Surrendering to the authority of Scripture is essential. We are not called to sit in judgment over the Bible, but to sit under its authority. Unfortunately, some read the Bible with the goal of mastering it intellectually, rather than allowing it to master them spiritually. But true transformation comes not from knowing the text alone, but from submitting to its truth and letting it shape our thoughts, values, and actions.

As Peter rightly declared, “For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21, ESV). This tells us that every word of Scripture was inspired by the Holy Spirit. It does not reflect human opinion or perspective, but divine revelation. Therefore, understanding Scripture cannot be achieved by human effort alone, it requires the help of the same Spirit who inspired it.
