PHILIPPIANS 3:12-4:1 Joyfully United

“Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained.” (Philippians 3:15-16)

One of the biggest misconceptions among believers is the true meaning of Christian maturity. Some assume that maturity is measured by knowledge, others believe it is determined by spiritual giftedness, and still, others associate it with personal spiritual accomplishments. Unfortunately, many who consider themselves mature often fall short of true maturity.

According to the apostle Paul, true maturity lies in recognizing that we have not yet arrived. It is a function of how we perceive ourselves in light of the journey ahead. Maturity is not about displaying knowledge, showcasing gifts, or boasting about accomplishments. Rather, it is a mindset of humility—understanding that we have not yet attained perfection and must continue pressing forward. True maturity acknowledges that perfection will only be fully realized when Christ returns.
