LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF JOSEPH PART 7 (GENESIS 41:33-45)

Life is full of seasons—seasons of increase and seasons of decrease, times of prosperity and times of adversity (Ecclesiastes 3:1). A lack of preparation during a season of abundance often leads to hardship when scarcity comes. That’s why it is important not to consume everything we have in the good times. Instead, we must cultivate the discipline of saving, investing, and planning ahead. As Proverbs 21:20 says, “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.”

Joseph’s actions in Egypt were not only economic but also prophetic. He modeled the principle of stewardship—managing resources with foresight and responsibility. In the same way, we are called to be good stewards of all God entrusts to us, including our finances, time, and opportunities.

Practical application today includes budgeting, building an emergency fund, investing wisely, and resisting the urge to spend carelessly during times of increase. It also includes trusting God’s timing and provision while doing our part in planning.
