BELIEVERS UNION WITH CHRIST: STUDY THROUGH THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS PART 14 (Ephesians 4:17-32)

“Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.” (Ephesians 4:17)

Union with Christ calls believers into a life that is fundamentally different from their former way of living and from the pattern of the unbelieving neighbors. This is what Scripture describes as our “walk.” As we have emphasized before, walking refers to the outward expression of the inward life we now possess in Christ. It is the visible manifestation of a transformed identity

Therefore, the instruction to no longer walk as the Gentiles do is not merely moral advice—it is a call to live consistently with our new nature. It is a call to be distinct from unbelievers, to refuse conformity to the spirit of the age (Romans 12:2), and to live as those who have been transferred from darkness into light (Colossians 1:13; 1 Peter 2:9). This walk is not optional; it is the necessary evidence of our union with Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 5:16).
