BELIEVERS UNION WITH CHRIST: STUDY THROUGH THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS PART 11 (Ephesians 3:14-21)

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named” (Ephesians 3:14–15).

One might ask why Paul chose to pray this kind of prayer immediately after explaining how Gentiles have been brought into the family of God in Christ. The answer is found in his opening words, “for this reason.” Paul wants us to understand this prayer in the light of the mystery he has just unfolded—that God’s eternal purpose is to unite all things in Christ and to form one family in Him (Ephesians 1:9–10; 2:18–19; 3:6).
